On 28 February 2024, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) issued a press release announcing the launch of its Coordinated Enforcement Framework (CEF) action for 2024. This initiative involves 31 Data Protection Authorities (the “DPAs”) across the EEA, focusing on implementing the right of access to personal data. The CEF has been developed to enhance cooperation among DPAs on high priority issues. The 2024 focus follows the implementation of the Guidelines on the right of access issued in April 2023, highlighted by the EDPB as the most frequently exercised data protection right. The results of this joint initiative will inform potential follow-up actions at EU level, shaping the future directives of both the board and the DPAs.
