Your writing style or approach to writing for Our Echo:

Writing about intermediary services means dealing with issues that are both technical and legal: my approach to the subject is to simplify the former in order to bring clarity to the latter.

The most interesting article in Our Echo on the subject “Intermediary Services”:

In the 74th issue of Our Echo (Newsletter n. 74 – May 2022), we wrote an article on the ECJ’s recent judgment in case C-65/22 (Poland v Parliament and Council), which dismissed the action brought by Poland against Article 17 of Directive No. 2019/790 of 17 April 2019 on copyright and related rights in the digital single market. In particular, the ECJ provided some important clarifications in order to avoid the risk that the use of automatic detection and filtering tools jeopardises the right to freedom of expression and information of users of online content sharing services. I think this ruling is extremely important as it reminds rights holders that their right to prevent the illegal sharing of copyrighted works must always be balanced against the fundamental rights enshrined in Article 11 of the European Charter of Fundamental Rights.
