DATA PROTECTION | Regulation on the European Health Data Space published

On 5 March 2025, Regulation (EU) 2025/327 on the European Health Data Space (“EHDS Regulation”) was published in the Official Journal of the Official Journal of the European Union.  The EHDS Regulation will establish a unified framework for the exchange and use of electronic health data across the European Union. It aims at enhancing individuals’ rights to access, control, and share their health data across borders, while also enabling the secure re-use of certain data for scientific research purposes, policy-making, and innovation. Additionally, it will introduce a standardized legal and technical framework for electronic health record systems, fostering interoperability and supporting a single market for digital health solutions. The EHDS Regulation will enter into force on 26 March 2025 and will become applicable in different phases according to data types and use cases.
