Ludovico Anselmi graduated with a law degree from the Catholic University of Milan in 2004, with a dissertation titled “Binding force and renegotiation of long term contracts”. He then obtained a PhD in Intellectual Property law at the University of Pavia, with a dissertation titled ”The civil liability of internet service providers”. Ludovico served his traineeship at Vanzetti & Associati law firm and from 2008 to 2012 he worked at Latham & Watkins (Milan office), where he operated as the attorney in charge of all issues relating to intellectual property law. He joined Orsingher Ortu Avvocati Associati in 2012. He primarily focuses on industrial property and intellectual property, his practice including litigation and transactional support (at national and international level). Ludovico is a member of the editorial staff of the legal review “AIDA – Annali italiani del diritto d’autore, della cultura e dello spettacolo” and authored several publications relating to intellectual property law. Luigi Baglivo graduated from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan and subsequently practised at a leading Italian law firm and a law firm in New York. He joined Orsingher Ortu as a partner in 2021. Luigi is an expert in banking and financial law with more than 20 years’ experience advising, inter alia, banks, financial intermediaries, and payment institutions. He has acquired an in-depth knowledge of the intermediaries he assists on a continuing basis, both with regard to the structuring of new products and services and in the context of specific transactions. Luigi also has developed significant experience in advising on matters related to managed savings, having assisted clients in the context of all the institutional aspects related to the constitution of and crisis of CUIs. Luigi also advises on the rules applicable to intermediaries who deal with their clients on a remote basis. Luigi speaks regularly at conferences and seminars.
Nicola Barra Caracciolo graduated with laude from the Genoa University in 1993. After some years with the firm of Prof. Ferrarini e Giudici in Genoa, he worked for the law firm Pavia e Ansaldo; in1999 NBC joined Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer where he became partner in 2004. As of 1 January 2013 Nicola joined Orsingher Ortu – Avvocati Associati. Nicola specialized in corporate, commercial and finance law, notably in domestic and multi-jurisdictional transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, public M&A, dismissals of companies and IPOs. He represented several companies and financial institutions in significant corporate transactions, restructuring and reorganizations. Nicola was admitted to practice in 1996. He is fluent in English.
Federico Bonetti graduated in law cum laude from the University of Pavia School of Law in 1998 and was awarded a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the New York University School of Law. He started his career at the Milan offices of Vita Samory, Fabbrini e Associati and has worked for a number of leading Italian and international law firms (most recently in the Milan office of Studio Lombardi Segni e Associati), primarily in the areas of Mergers & Acquisitions (including listed companies) and Capital Markets. Federico has advised clients on a wide variety of corporate and M&A transactions, including cash or exchange tender offers and mergers of industrial and financial groups listed on the Italian Stock Exchange. Paolo Canal graduated in law from the University of Modena in 1983. After two previous experiences in primary Italian law firms, he worked for the law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer from 1999 to 2012. Paolo has developed a significant experience in the sector of acquisitions, corporate joint ventures and other corporate extraordinary transactions, as well as general commercial contracts, particularly in the field of private procurement contracts and commercial distribution, assisting Italian and foreign clients. As of January 2013 Paolo joined Orsingher Ortu – Avvocati Associati. He was admitted to bar in Italy in 1988. He speaks English and French.
Elisa Cazzani graduated cum laude from the University of Ferrara in 1997, where she also collaborated with the Chair of private law. After a brief experience in the Corporate Affairs office of a major services company listed on the Milan Stock Exchange, in 2003 she joined the firm of Professor Valerio Tavormina. She joined collaborated with Gatti Pavesi Bianchi as from 2012 and, in 2014, she joined Giovanardi Pototschnig & Associati. Elisa gained significant experience of commercial, corporate, banking and financial intermediation law, including insolvency matters, providing assistance and legal advice also in the pre-contentious phase, in mediation proceedings and in the implementation of settlement agreements. In addition, she has considerable experience in arbitration proceedings, both as attorney and a member of arbitration panels, including before the Milan Chamber of Arbitration at the Milan Chamber of Commerce. Carlo Edoardo Cazzato graduated in law from the University of Bari “Aldo Moro” with top marks (J.D. 2005). He also gained a PhD in Commercial Law at the same University and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in EU Competition Law and an LL.M. in International Business Law at King’s College London and De Montfort University of Leicester respectively. After his internship at the Italian Competition Authority (AGCM), he practised at Studio Legale Libertini – Scognamiglio, DLA Piper and Lipani Catricalà & Partners, where in 2017 he became the coordinator of the antitrust and regulatory practice. He joined Orsingher Ortu Avvocati Associati as a partner in 2021. Edoardo assists clients on a wide range of issues in the field of European and Italian antitrust, competition, merger control and consumer law. He acquired a broad experience in TLC and regulated sectors such as media, energy and pharmaceuticals, advising clients before the AGCM, the European Commission, the Italian Administrative and Civil Courts and the European Courts. Since 2019, Edoardo has been a Non-Governmental Advisor of the European Commission’s DG Competition. He is Adjunct Professor of Antitrust Law at the Mercatorum University and the author of several publications on competition law, including a handbook and a monographic work. Sergio Alberto Codella graduated cum laude from the University of Rome LUISS in 2003 and was awarded a PhD in labour, trade union and social security law at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. Sergio began his career at Studio Legale Pessi e Associati, then collaborated with the firm NCTM, has been then part of Boursier Niutta & Partners and finally joined Orsingher Ortu – Avvocati Associati in 2022. Sergio has an extensive experience in assisting clients in all labour, trade union and social security law matters. He lectured at the University of Rome LUISS and authored several publications on employment, trade union and social security law matters. He has been appointed labour law examiner within public exams commissions. Sergio is an EELA – European Employment Lawyers Association member and general secretary of AIDR – Italian Digital Revolution Association. Domenico Colella graduated with a law degree cum laude from Bari University and was then involved in civil law research by Professor Michele Costantino. He was in-house counsel at Banca Cattolica S.p.A. and afterwards associate at the Rome office of the international law firm Baker & McKenzie. In 2001 he co-founded the firm Portolano Colella Cavallo where he led the IP, Outsourcing and Technology practices of the firm for over ten years. In 2012 Domenico joined Orsingher Avvocati Associati. Domenico has an outstanding experience in assisting Italian and foreign clients on matters pertaining to information technology, especially in connection with outsourcing projects and M&A deals. In those fields, he is often called upon by his clients – market leaders – to handle the most complex projects in Italy. He was a lecturer of the Master on Business Law at LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome and Luigi Bocconi University in Milan; he has authored various publications on Information Technology and outsourcing contract law, has co-authored the “Doing Business” report published by the World Bank. He is past Co-chair of the Privacy, E-Commerce and Data Security Committee of ABA (American Bar Association) International Law and Practice Section, a member of the Tax & Legal Committee of AIFI (Italian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association), former Local Representative for Italy and member of the Board of Directors of ITechLaw. Marco Consonni graduated with a law degree at the University of Milan in 1988. He worked for Frere Cholmeley Bishoff and, from 1995 to 1998, for Andersen Legal, becoming a partner of the firm in 1996. He has been a co-founder of the Milan branch of the firm Galgano and head of the TMT practice up to 2007 when the firm merged with Dewey & LeBoeuf where he has been responsible of the Italian IP/IT practice. In 2011 Marco and his group joined Orsingher Avvocati Associati sharing the project of a firm focussed on the TMT industries. For many years Marco has been active in the intellectual property, technology and media sectors, advising its clients – which include major international players – in a broad range of IT and IP related transactional matters such as licensing agreements, distributorship, content agreements and clearance, Internet and e-commerce strategy, JV arrangements and corporate transactions, investments and start-up, commercial contracts in general. Cesare De Falco graduated in law in 2007 from Bocconi University in Milan. He attended a post-graduate course in employment law at Università Statale di Milano in 2010. Cesare was a member of the Employment department of BonelliErede in the Milan office from 2007 to 2015, and in 2011 he was seconded to Slaughter and May in London. Cesare joined Orsingher Ortu – Avvocati Associati in July 2015. He advises national and international clients on all aspects of employment and labour law, and he has gained significant experience of advising on management of relationship with top managers, corporate crises, including mass redundancies, corporate reorganisation for extraordinary transactions, drafting of employment and agency contracts, and litigation. Alessandro De Palma graduated with honours in 2000 from the Università degli Studi di Milano, where he worked for several years with its Law School (Department of Labour Law). Alessandro started his practice at Toffoletto Law Firm, and, in 2008, he joined BonelliErede Law Firm. He advises clients on all aspects concerning employment and labour law. Alessandro joined Orsingher Ortu – Avvocati Associati in July 2015, where he deals with employment and labour law matters. Francesca Flego graduated from the University of Catania in 2004. She served her traineeship with Clifford Chance, was associated at Clifford Chance’s corporate department and starting from December 2010 worked in Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. As of 1 January 2013 Francesca joined Orsingher Ortu – Avvocati Associati. She gained significant experience on in corporate, commercial and finance law, notably in domestic and multi-jurisdictional transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, dismissals of companies and public takeovers. Luca Garramone graduated from the University of Rome La Sapienza in 2000, has obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in labour and social security law from the same university and a Ph.D. in labour, trade union and social security law form the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He can pride himself of a participation in the competitive Seminar of comparative labour law “Pontignano XXI” patronised by AIDLaSS and hosted by the University of Siena. Pierfrancesco Giustiniani graduated magna cum laude from Milan State University Law School in 1992 and after having accrued a significant experience in the law firm Toffoletto & Associati, he joined Erede e Associati in 1996 (which in 1999 became Bonelli Erede Pappalardo), where, as a partner from 2001, took up the position as head of Corporate & Finance Department. In 2011 he founded Hi.Lex – Avvocati Associati and then joined Orsingher Ortu – Avvocati Associati in April 2016. In nearly 30 years of professional activity he has gained a significant experience in relation to M&A and other extraordinary transactions, both domestic and international, capital markets transactions (such as takeover bids, translisting, IPO’s and capital increases), as well as in relation to corporate advice, litigation and commercial contracts. Manfredi Leanza attended Scuola Militare Nunziatella in Naples and graduated with a law degree cum laude from Rome University “Tor Vergata” in 1998. Manfredi began his career at the Bruxelles offices of Chiomenti Studio Legale practising Italian and EU competition law. In 2001 he moved to the Milan offices of the firm and developed a significant expertise in banking and finance, working with top tier national and international players on a variety of corporate transactions. Manfredi represented primary credit institutions and companies in connection with both domestic and cross-border financing transactions, with a particular focus on acquisition finance, real estate finance, project finance and restructuring. In 2015 Manfredi joined Orsingher Ortu – Avvocati Associati adding his finance expertise to the corporate practise of the Firm. Manfredi was admitted to practice in 2001. He is fluent in English.
Pietro Masi graduated in law from the University of Rome Tre with a corporate law dissertation on “The recording of leasing contracts in financial statements”. Pietro practised for a number of years at the law firm of Professors Mario Bussoletti and Antonio Nuzzo, and subsequently at a number of other leading firms. Pietro’s practice is mainly in the area of corporate law, with a specific focus on mergers & acquisitions and joint venture transactions. He also has significant experience of contentious proceedings (both litigation and arbitration) in relation to disputes involving contracts, corporate law and bankruptcy. Pietro was admitted to practice in 2008 and to plead before Italian supreme court in 2020. He joined Orsingher Ortu – Avvocati Associati in 2018. Giuseppe Mazzaglia attended Collegio Augustinianum and graduated with a law degree from the Catholic University of Milan in 2002. After some years with the law firms of prof. Gustavo Ghidini and prof. Fabio Franchini, he worked at leading international firms, among which Ashurst LLP and Grimaldi law firm. He assists clients in a wide range of Civil Law, Commercial, Corporate, Banking and Finance proceedings, for both routine as well as arbitration cases. He also has an extensive background in commercial contracts and specifically with distribution agreements (agency, commission, franchising, sales concession, and business procurement), freight agreements and tender contracts. Valeria Mazzoletti graduated in law magna cum laude from the University of Milan (with her thesis recommended for publication) in 1984, and was for many years teaching assistant in Civil Procedure Law at the University, under the guidance of Prof. Giuseppe Tarzia. Valeria started her legal career at the law firm of Avv. Giuseppe Tristano in Milan, specialising in corporate law. From 2004 to 2012 she was a partner at the firm of Pedersoli e Associati and, subsequently, head of the litigation department of d’Urso, Gatti e Bianchi. In November 2014 Valeria became a partner of Giovanardi e Associati (later, Giovanardi Pototschnig & Associati). She joined Orsingher Ortu Avvocati Associati in September 2020 , with Paolo Pototschnig and their team. Valeria assists clients in judicial proceedings involving civil, commercial, corporate, banking and bankruptcy issues, including in the pre-contentious phase, the commencement of proceedings and the negotiation of settlement agreements. She has specific experience in insolvency procedures and debt restructurings; and on various occasions has been appointed as a member of the Monitoring Committee of securities investment firms (SIM) and asset management companies (SGR) undergoing compulsory administrative liquidation. Giovanni Nicchiniello graduated with honors from the University of Genoa in 1998. He worked in private practice with a number of leading law firms, including CBA and BonelliErede, prior to becoming Head of M&A and Finance at Pirelli & C. Real Estate S.p.A. and, since 2004, Head of Legal Affairs at Pirelli & C. Real Estate SGR S.p.A. From 2005 to 2009 he was general counsel of the listed merchant bank Sopaf S.p.A. He returned to private practice in 2010, also working with Prof. Guido Rossi. In 2012 he became a partner at McDermott Will & Emery and, subsequently, in 2018, a partner at Hi.lex. On 1 July 2020 He joined Orsingher Ortu – Avvocati Associati in July 2020. His practice is mainly in the corporate finance sector, assisting clients on domestic and international M&A transactions involving regulated companies (listed companies, banks, asset management companies, funds and financial intermediaries) with a particular focus on the private debt, real estate and restructuring sectors, as well as private equity. Matteo Orsingher graduated with a law degree cum laude from Bologna University in 1987 and served his traineeship in Padua and Milan with the law firm of Prof. Alberto Miele. He worked for the law firm Pavia e Ansaldo from 1990 to 1999, becoming a partner in 1996. From 1999 to 2007 he was the partner head of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s Italian Intellectual Property and Information Technology department. He was the co-founder of the firm in 2007. Mario Ortu graduated in law at the University of Padua, with the highest marks (J.D., 1985). After his traineeship at the law firm of Prof. Miele, Mario Ortu joined the law firm Pavia e Ansaldo, where he became partner in 1995. Between 1999 and 2012 he was a partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he led the Italian corporate department and, more recently, was appointed as member of the Firmwide Leadership Team of the FIG Sector Group. As of 1 January 2013 Mario and his group joined Orsingher Avvocati Associati, that became Orsingher Ortu – Avvocati Associati. He is specialised in corporate and commercial law and his wide range of experiences extends to (domestic and multi-jurisdictional) mergers and acquisitions, establishment of joint ventures, dismissals of companies, public takeover offers, restructurings and reorganisations. Cosimo Paszkowski graduated with a law degree cum laude and dignity of press from the University of Florence in 2005 and started his practice at the Rome offices of the law firm Chiomenti. In 2014 he continued his collaboration with the firm at the Milan office, where he gained significant experience in banking and finance law, regularly assisting leading investment funds, industrial companies, banks and financial institutions in relation to corporate and financial transactions, both domestic and international. Cosimo’s practice also includes real estate finance, acquisition finance and corporate finance transactions. Elisabetta Pistis graduated from La Sapienza University in Rome in 2000 with a thesis in administrative law, where she also took a Masters Degree in the organisation and functioning of public administration, directed by Prof. Sabino Cassese. She completed her professional training and began practising as a qualified lawyer at the firm of Prof. Caravita di Toritto. In 2005 she joined the firm of Prof. Guarino and became a partner in 2010. The main focus of Elisabetta’s practice is administrative law in the areas of public contracts, public utilities, energy and transport, state companies, environment and commerce. She also has significant experience in contentious matters, particularly in administrative law disputes in relation to public procurement. Elisabetta is a board member of ATM S.p.A., and a statutory auditor of Ombrone S.p.A. and Berg. S.p.A (members of the ACEA Group) since 2017. Elisabetta joined Orsingher Ortu – Avvocati Associati in 2020. She was admitted to practice in 2004 and, since 2016 has rights of appearance before the Supreme Court.
Paolo Pototschnig graduated in law magna cum laude in 1985 from the University of Milan, and was subsequently a teaching assistant at the university in Civil Procedure Law for many years, under the guidance of Prof. Giuseppe Tarzia. Paolo was a partner of Negri Clementi e Soci and a co-founder, of NTCM in 2000.. From 2011 to 2017 he was partner of Legance and, subsequently, a partner of Giovanardi, Pototschnig & Associati. In September 2020 he joined Orsingher Ortu Avvocati Associati, together with avv. Valeria Mazzoletti and a team of seven professionals. He has significant experience in managing disputes (also in the pre-contentious phases) in a wide variety of areas, including: corporate, banking, mass torts, class actions, follow-on proceedings, and in the fields of commercial agreements, distribution and advertising contracts, procurements, energy sources and telecommunications. Francesca Pulejo graduated cum laude from the L.U.I.S.S. University Guido Carli of Rome. In 2001, after a period of practice at the firm of Prof. Avv. Floriano d’Alessandro, she joined Verusio e Cosmelli in Rome. As from January 2020, she joined Orsingher Ortu – Avvocati Associati. She has a significant experience in contentious matters, assisting primary Italian and multinational companies as well as foreign institutions in civil, commercial and labour disputes and arbitrations. Fabrizio Sanna attended Collegio Ghislieri and graduated with a law degree cum laude from Pavia University in 2000. He obtained MJur and MPhil master’s degrees from Oxford University in 2002 and 2004, respectively and a PhD in intellectual property and competition law from Pavia University in 2004. He served his traineeship with the law firm of Prof. Luigi Carlo Ubertazzi. He worked in Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s Intellectual Property and Information Technology department from 2004 to 2007. He was the co-founder of Orsingher Avvocati Associati firm in 2007. He gained significant experience on intellectual property, advertising, data protection (privacy) and e-commerce laws both in the contentious and non-contentious spheres. His practice includes transactional matters, mainly related to IT and IP rights, including all aspects of development, production and distribution of film and TV programmes. Fabrizio represents primary enterprises within the TMT sector. He lectured Intellectual Property Law at Ca’ Foscari University in Venice and is currently lecturer in Intellectual Property and New Media at University of Pavia. He has authored a book and various other publications on copyright and design laws and is a member of the editorial committee of AIDA (Italian Annals of Copyright).
