On Friday, we crossed a threshold. Not only a geographical one — though the hills of Monferrato have their own way of putting things back into perspective. A day outside the office, outside deadlines, outside the rhythm we know all too well. Not to switch off, but to remind ourselves who we are when we’re not in front of a screen.

Every journey begins with a call. And like every call that matters, this one too met some resistance at first. A Friday? With deadlines and open files? Right now?

When you live inside complexity every day, stopping feels like an inconceivable luxury. And that’s exactly where the point lies hidden.

OOAA is almost twenty years old. We’ve grown as a firm, as people, as a team. And the more you grow, the greater the risk of losing sight of one another: knowing everything about your colleagues’ work, and very little about them. #SolvingTheCompLex isn’t only what we do for our clients; it’s also navigating the complexity of our own lives, our own balance, and the relationships we build every day.

Then the hills did their work.

Among the vineyards, talents emerged that no résumé had ever declared. The puzzle-solver who cracked riddles with Olympic calm, reminding us of the gaze of those who find the way out where others see only the knot. The storyteller who revealed a voice capable of winning everyone over. The one who told one scent from another with unfailing confidence — a mirror of that nose for detail which lies at the heart of the legal profession.

The determination with which each team defended its position, convinced and well-documented, was already strategy: the very same that, back at the office, turns a good argument into a winning solution.

You come to know one another differently when work makes room for the person. You discover affinities, distances grow shorter, and you build something that then, on Monday morning, comes back to the office together with you.

This is the elixir you bring home from the journey: not a photo (even if our photos are beautiful), but a more solid trust. A team that knows itself a little better and that, from today, faces complexity with something more.

The #OOAA are back. Slightly tanned, decidedly more united.
